BRISBANE will go green this September, as it plays host to Australia’s largest consumer sustainability expo in a move to help save the world.

Running from September 14 to 16, the inaugural Brisbane Eco Expo will join the global fight against climate change and increased health concerns to raise awareness and connect Queenslanders with Australia’s emerging ‘green market’.

Held at the Brisbane Showgrounds, this event will see more than 140 eco-friendly businesses congregate in a market-like space to offer natural, organic and sustainable products across dedicated sectors. These sectors include ‘home and living’, ‘health and food’, ‘beauty and lifestyle’, and ‘baby and kids’.

With Australia recently ranked in the top five worst countries for waste pollution, Eco Expo Event Director and Unified Events Managing Director, Kiara Sullivan, said the need to conserve Australia, and the world, is dire.

“Australia is facing major social and environmental changes. We need to make a conscious effort toward environmentally-friendly choices,” Mrs Sullivan said. “Brisbane City has been chosen as the location for this event primarily due to its accolades, twice awarded as Australia’s most sustainable city”.

The Brisbane Showgrounds use the world’s best practices when it comes to urban design and environmental sustainability, resulting in a leading energy efficient facility.

Eco Expo visitors will find innovative products for their home and lifestyle, with carefully curated exhibitors showcasing a range of goods and services from electric vehicles, technology, gardening, finance, and homewares, to apparel, pet care and skincare. Additionally, for those conscious about their health, wellbeing, and how diet impacts the sustainability of the environment around them, visitors will also find a focus on natural, fair-trade, gluten-free, certified-organic, vegan, vegetarian, and non-GMO food and beverage offerings.

Free seminars and innovative product demonstrations will be available, with keynote speakers discussing sustainable practices that can be implemented in our daily lives. As children are the future, families will also find a range of fun and engaging ‘How To’ workshops.

Every detail of the Eco Expo has been carefully considered and follows Unified’s sustainability plan. Regulations are also in place for the exhibitors and visitors to ensure all processes are environmentally-friendly, such as a plastic bag and flyer free zone.
